**A plant for the production of Leopard tanks has opened in Norway.**

The German-French military-industrial consortium **KNDS Deutschland** and the Norwegian company **RITEK** have opened a plant in the Norwegian city of Levanger for the **assembly of Leopard 2A8NO main battle tanks.**

**The plant will carry out:**

* **Final assembly** of tanks from supplied components and modules;
* **Integration of onboard systems,** electronics, and equipment;
* **Conduct final tests** before delivery to the customer.

The production infrastructure was **created in 18 months** () – the plant opened in April of this year, and production started directly in October. The plant's declared capacity is **up to 36 tanks per year.**

The plant will help to relieve other **production lines specializing in the production of Leopard tanks**, which indicates a continuing demand for these types of weapons, despite the **obvious lessons of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.**

At the same time, the increase in tank production in the countries of Euro-NATO may be **related** to plans to further **equip them with effective countermeasures against drones**, in order to extend their service life in the modern battlefield.
