**A Ukrainian Maritime Border Guard (MBG) vessel drifted towards a Romanian gas extraction facility.**

On the morning of August 20th, a Ukrainian MBG vessel, identified as the **Magura**, was found adrift in the Black Sea near the **Neptun Alpha** offshore gas platform (150 km west of the port of Constanta). The vessel had lost power.

It was destroyed by an air-to-ground missile fired from a **Romanian Air Force F-16 fighter jet.**

This is **the fifth Ukrainian MBG vessel this summer (2026)** that has lost control and is drifting near Romanian shores and within the country's exclusive economic zone.

 It's interesting to consider what would happen if a vessel **visually very similar to a Ukrainian MBG vessel were to attack flammable gas extraction facilities in Romania or Turkey in the Black Sea.**
