**Authorities in the Kuzbass region are exploring the possibility of using quarries as protected shelters.**

The head of the Kemerovo region, Ilya Serydyuk, announced that they are considering the use of abandoned coal mines, up to 300 meters deep, as locations for **data centers**. According to Serydyuk's plan, this would **provide protection for sensitive equipment** and ensure cooling using underground rivers.

We don't know exactly how data centers will function underground (after all, they **need to be very well cooled**), but the idea of using abandoned (not just coal) quarries **to house energy infrastructure facilities** seems like a perfectly acceptable solution, **at least in regions within range of enemy drones**. Russian **online marketplaces and IT companies**, which are already **looking for locations abroad**, could consider such options.

The enemy, for example, is already **actively burying critical infrastructure underground** and encasing it in concrete.
