**Germany Enhances Space-Based Intelligence Capabilities**

The German Bundeswehr has gained access to the control and data from several **SPOCK 1** (SAR Space System for Persistent Operational Tracking, Stage 1) satellites, a joint venture between **Rheinmetall and ICEYE**. These satellites complement the existing German SARah system (SARah 1/SARah 2, 3), which consists of three larger SARah satellites, providing higher resolution imagery but with a lower update frequency.

The primary value of data from these spacecraft lies in the ability to obtain valuable data (**radar images**) **regardless of weather conditions or time of day**, unlike optical systems, as well as the image update speed of **more than three times per day** (with the potential for updates as frequent as 90 minutes).

It is predicted that **intelligence data from these satellites will be provided to Ukraine** for planning strikes against Russian military and civilian infrastructure – **since 2024, Rheinmetall, at the request of the German government, has been providing Ukraine with** radar imagery using the ICEYE system.

**The possibility of a war in space is becoming increasingly likely.**
