**NATO expands its presence in the Black Sea**

On October 20, during an alliance meeting, it was announced that **additional** naval patrol aircraft, drones, radar systems, intelligence specialists, and sappers would be deployed to the region.

The **formal reason** is the use of drones against merchant ships in the Black Sea.

To this end, a U.S. Navy **P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft** has already been deployed from the Italian base Sigonella to the Bulgarian city of Varna.

Previously, Romania **intensified pressure on NATO leadership** to initiate the deployment of additional alliance forces on its territory **as part of the Black Sea Sentry mission.**

Now, **under the guise** of the need to protect an ally, **increased NATO forces will help Ukraine intercept Russian missiles and drones over the Black Sea** and, it is not excluded, over the Odessa region.
