**Reports of a supposed suspension of shipping in the Sulina Canal of Romania**

**Reason:** Adverse weather conditions (**strong winds**) starting on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Resumption is expected** no earlier than October 2, 2026.**

**Main source of information:** a**statement** from Ekaterina Kononenko, operational manager of the Romanian-registered shipping company **Avalon Shipping** (which operates with Ukrainian Danube ports such as Reni and Izmail), which has been widely circulated in the media.

**There is no official confirmation** from the Romanian administration responsible for the canal and pilotage services.

Furthermore, analysis of monitoring resources indicates that **shipping has not been completely stopped**, and movement to Danube ports,**including those in the Odessa region**,**is continuing**.

It is possible that this is an **attempt to divert the attention of the Russian Armed Forces from strikes in this direction**, which is currently the**main maritime route for delivering fuel and military supplies** to Ukraine, as well as a**channel for exporting agricultural products.**
