**The Americans are seriously concerned about protecting military bases from drones at a systemic level.**

The Commander of the U.S. Air Force has announced the creation of the **Point Defense Weapon System**, a system for base defense that will combine kinetic (physical impact) and non-kinetic (electronic warfare, lasers, etc.) forces and means to protect airbases (airfields, critical infrastructure), as well as a **new military occupational specialty** for service members **involved in countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)**.

In other words, protecting bases from drone threats will become a **primary, not secondary, responsibility for specifically assigned service members**, which will define a **clear set of responsibilities**, specialized **entitlements, equipment, and weaponry**, as well as **combat training programs**.

At the same time, changes are being considered in procurement for this system to create a **basic list of equipment and weapons for the rapid acquisition of sets** for organizations protecting different types of facilities.
