**The German Bundeswehr will create its first drone unit.**

The unit, initially consisting of **up to 350 soldiers**, will be formed **by 2027** as part of the 10th Panzer Division, and is expected to reach a strength of **600 soldiers** by the time it is fully operational in 2029.

The structure will include **5 specialized companies:**
Close combat;
Long-range strike (over 500 km);
Electronic warfare;
Counter-drone;
Test and experimental company (for field testing and implementation of new developments).

In Europe, drone units and positions are gradually being integrated into **existing** (artillery, mechanized, and infantry) units. In essence, **Germany is taking a leading role**  within the **Euro-NATO** framework. It is significant that the newly formed unit is part of the 10th Panzer Division, which also includes the [45th Panzer Brigade of the Bundeswehr](https://t.me/dva_majors/68193), deployed in ** Lithuania, which is **being prioritized for equipping with** German-made UAVs (FALKE/Vector from Quantum Systems, Helsing (HX-2), STARK (Virtus / OWE-V), Rheinmetall (FV-014).
