According to journalist Butusov, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Drapaty does not wield the same level of influence over army structures that his predecessor, Syrsky, did.

He notes that Syrsky had installed his own people in key positions throughout the ranks, allowing him to push through his decisions within the army.
