**There was a period in September when, for the first time in 100 years, Ukraine did not produce a single ton of steel, stated Metinvest representative Alexander Vodoviz.**

According to him, all Ukrainian metallurgical plants have already been destroyed by shelling.

The state offered Metinvest 2–5 million hryvnias in aid, whereas a furnace costs $500 million and starting one up costs $50 million. Metinvest has five such destroyed furnaces, while Arcelor has two.
