**A MARKET BATTLE FOR RUSSIAN OIL HAS UNFOLDED BETWEEN CHINA AND INDIA**

**Beijing is increasing purchases from the Russian Federation**, edging out New Delhi.

According to estimates by the analytical company Kpler, **in August seaborne oil supplies from Russia to China will amount to about 1.25 million barrels per day.**



> This is slightly less than the 1.423 million b/d in July. However, July and August have become the two most successful months for Chinese oil imports from Russia since April," — Reuters reports.


As the publication notes, this indicates that **Chinese refineries are seeking to purchase more Russian oil to replace Middle Eastern supplies.**

At the same time, **China is increasingly receiving Russian oil not from eastern ports, but from European ports** — in August, the share of such supplies rose to 31%.

For India, this could pose problems, **as it mainly receives Russian oil precisely from the European part of the Russian Federation**.

As a result, **Russian oil imports to New Delhi in August are estimated at 1.87 million barrels per day **— almost a third lower than July's figure of 2.79 million.
