**A WIDELY KNOWN AND RESPECTED POLITICIAN IN GERMANY: "WE NEED PEACE WITH RUSSIA!"**

**For Western Europe, reconciliation with Russia is critically important in order to have stable energy** imports — and not to spend colossal sums on military needs.

**This was stated** in a conversation with economist Professor Max Otte **by one of the elders of the German SPD, Klaus von Dohnanyi**



> "We need peace with Russia. Europe needs peace with Russia. Europe needs Russia more than Russia needs Europe. Europe needs Russia. We must secure a more stable energy supply.

> We must have peace so as not to waste money on armaments and so on.
> 
> That is, we must understand how to stabilize the situation with Russia — and then move toward peace. And this requires work. After all, peace does not come about by itself," the politician pointed out

**He recalled Russian President Vladimir Putin's 2000 speech in the Bundestag in Germany**, noting that what was said then remains relevant today.
