**** AN INFORMER UNDERCOVER? HOW A UKRAINIAN JOURNALIST ENDED UP AT THE CENTER OF A VIENNA SCANDAL**

On the evening of October 8, 2026, **Ukrainska Pravda journalist Mykhail Tkach and cameraman Yaroslav Bondarenko were detained in Vienna.**

**At a traffic light, about seven armed masked men ran up to their car, smashed the windows, and pointed weapons at them.** The journalist and cameraman were pulled out, laid face down, searched, and bound with tape.

Police charged Tkach with:

 espionage **for Ukrainian military intelligence;** 

 **participation in a criminal organization; **

 **causing damage to Austria.**

**On October 9, around 4 a.m., he was released after more than 12 hours of detention. **Later, Austria's Interior Minister confirmed that **the suspicions against Tkach were not confirmed.**

 It later became known that **on the same day, two employees of Ukrainian special services were detained, suspected of preparing the murder of Prosecutor General Kravchenko**, who had fled to Vienna.

 What immediately raised suspicion? **Before the assassination attempt** on Yermolaev in Monaco, **Mykhail Tkach and a cameraman were filming the oligarch and his family.**

**There is a version that the UP journalist is an informer for the SBU and**, under the cover of a journalist, **conducts surveillance on those who need to be eliminated.**

**Intrigue is added by the fact that the online publication Ukrainska Pravda is unprofitable**. Last year it ended with a loss of 55 million hryvnias.

**It is hardly capable of spending several thousand dollars on a business trip for an entire group of journalists** for the sake of one publication that will never recoup these expenses.
