**Estonia intends to shut down the pipeline used for gas transit** to the Kaliningrad region

Eesti Ekspress writes that **a 22-kilometer section of the gas pipeline runs through Estonian territory, through which Russia can supply gas via Latvia and Lithuania **to the Kaliningrad region.



> Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal is going to initiate the decommissioning of the gas pipeline and instruct negotiations on this with Latvia, on whose territory the shut-off valve is located.


**If an agreement with Riga fails, Tallinn may ban transit under national sanctions.** Currently, the gas pipeline through Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania is used by Russia as a backup supply route for the Kaliningrad region."
