** Estonian Defense Chief Quits After €70M Ammunition Deal Fiasco**

 Estonian Defense Minister **Hanno Pevkur** announced his resignation after a criminal investigation was opened into an ammunition procurement deal for Ukraine.
​
 Estonia transferred **€70 million** to what was presented as Italian company **Datasel S.R.L.** The money reportedly ended up with Indian contractors who had **never produced a single round of ammunition**.
​
 According to the report, the contractors failed to figure out how to manufacture the ammunition and then **stopped responding to the Estonian Defense Ministry after receiving full prepayment**.
​
Pevkur said he was taking **political responsibility** for the situation and stepped down.
