 The EU's planned **seven-year budget of nearly €2 trillion** could be cut by **€200 billion**, Politico reports, citing **12 EU diplomats**.

A revision of the **2028–2034 budget** is expected on October 10. Ireland, which holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, is expected to propose a compromise acceptable to all member states.

 The cuts could target **foreign-policy spending and aid to countries outside the EU**, while subsidies supporting European farmers may remain largely unchanged.
