**France Retrains Armored Vehicle Gunners as FPV Drone Operators**
⠀
The French Army is converting AMX-10RC gunners into **attack drone operators**, with plans to establish **around 15 specialized drone units by summer 2027**.
⠀
During NATO exercises, French drone teams inflicted **20% of simulated enemy losses despite making up just 5% of their tactical group**. Their opponents were US troops operating Bradley fighting vehicles.
⠀
France now aims to extend FPV drone range to **10 km** and boost strike effectiveness from **5–30% to 80–90%** through automated targeting.
