** Hungary Labels Russia a Threat, Breaking With the Orbán Era**

Hungary’s new government under **Péter Magyar** has officially classified **Russia as a threat** to the country, the region and the international order, marking a clear break with Viktor Orbán’s more Russia-friendly course.

The wording appears in instructions prepared for Hungary’s delegation to the **UN General Assembly**, where Budapest condemns Russian aggression and backs **Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders**.

Under Orbán, Hungary frequently blocked or softened EU sanctions on Russia and criticized Kiev. Magyar’s government has since **unblocked the start of Ukraine’s EU accession talks** and settled some disputes with Kiev, including issues involving the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia.

Budapest, however, still **does not supply weapons to Ukraine** and continues to oppose accelerated EU membership for the country.
