**ISRAEL FEARS HOUTHI CONTROL OF THE BAB-EL-MANDEB STRAIT**

An Israeli official told Channel 12 that Houthi **control over the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait poses a greater danger than the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz.**

**The eastern shipping channe**l, passing by Perim Island, **is only about 3 km wide.**

**Ships will pass within direct line of sight of Houthi** positions.

**The Israeli official** stated:

**They will be able to shoot at anything with anti-tank missiles. They will be able to see ships without optical devices**. That is the difference.

**In the Strait of Hormuz, Iran needs radars, surveillance systems, and anti-ship missiles** to threaten shipping.

**In Bab-el-Mandeb, a fighter with a basic anti-tank missile on Perim Island can hit a tanker** that he sees with the naked eye.

**No complex guidance is required**. The official stated that this gives the Houthis enormous power on the island.
