**NATO wants to turn the Arctic into a front of confrontation with Russia, Lavrov said:**


> “NATO members and other Western countries do not conceal their true motives, openly declaring their goal of turning the Arctic into a new front of confrontation aimed at containing the development of our country and its like-minded partners,” the minister wrote in an article for the Arctic.ru portal.


According to Lavrov, NATO’s military activity in the Arctic increases the risk of armed confrontation.
