**PARIS MAYOR DEFENDS THE PROTESTERS**

The mayor of the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis has spoken out **about the use of "disproportionate force" against protesting schoolchildren.**

Bali Bagayoko called on the French Interior Ministry to review its instructions. **He had previously stood up for the teenagers and placed himself between them and the police.**



> I appeal to the youth: your demands are just. Keep organizing and making yourselves heard loudly. But do not give in to any provocations," Bagayoko stated.


**Police are throwing stun grenades at high school students and beating them with batons. One schoolboy was hit in the face by a tear gas **projectile: he suffered a double jaw fracture and had his teeth knocked out.
