**Russia’s Foreign Ministry calls on the UN to investigate alleged secret prisons in Ukraine**

Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large, urged the UN Committee Against Torture to investigate a system of secret detention sites where, he said, Russian prisoners of war are being abused.


> “How much longer will it take for the UN Committee Against Torture to set itself the goal of investigating Ukraine’s secret-prison system—a system that is widely known about but actively ignored?”


Miroshnik called the prisons a “disgraceful phenomenon” and accused Kiev’s Western allies of trying to shield the Ukrainian authorities from accountability.

According to him, the problem is not a lack of evidence, but the unwillingness of international bodies to conduct a full investigation.
