** Russia to Vet AI Models for Compliance With Laws and “Traditional Values”**

 Russia plans to test **AI models for compliance with national legislation and traditional spiritual and moral values**, _Vedomosti_ reports.
​
Russian developers will be able to submit their models to **independent laboratories** with approval from the Ministry of Digital Development.
​
 A law on AI adopted on **July 26** introduces two special statuses for large foundation models: **“sovereign” and “national.”** To qualify for either, a model must demonstrate compliance with Russian law and officially defined traditional values.
