**Meta's smart glasses could be used for planning terrorist attacks and covert filming,** US police fear.

The glasses from Meta have been dubbed "pervert glasses." **They look like ordinary eyewear but are equipped with a built‑in camera, microphone, and AI assistant. **

**The technology allows recording footage of people without their consent** and has already been used for harassment;

 **Police officers are required to conduct a thorough inspection of all glasses "approved for use in cameras,**" as detainees could secretly record activities inside police facilities;

 **A law enforcement memo from New York **dated January of last year **references the New Year's terrorist attack in New Orleans. **

In that incident, **a man drove a truck into a crowd, killing 14 people** and injuring 35 others;


 The FBI noted that prior to the attack,** the perpetrator had twice ridden a bicycle down the street where the assault took place while wearing smart glasses**, conducting "reconnaissance before the attack";

 The memo states that **police officers should pay attention to and report individuals who "behave suspiciously** and are presumably using smart glasses."
