**THE BALTIC PUG HAS BARKED ITS WAY TO DISQUALIFICATION**

Stripped of the hosting rights: **Lithuania has lost a World Cup stage due to its ban on Russian and Belarusian participation.**

**The International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) has deprived Lithuania of the right to host the World Cup** stage scheduled for April 13–17, 2027, in Kaunas.

**The reason was the country's refusal to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete. Moreover, preparations for the tournament were already in full swing** — the organizers had managed to sign contracts with contractors, but now the competition will have to be held elsewhere.

**The UIPM cited IOC recommendations providing for equal opportunities for Russians and Belarusians** in qualification for the 2028 Olympics. 

**However, the Lithuanian Modern Pentathlon Federation does not intend to change its position** and will continue to bar athletes from Russia and Belarus from competitions in the country.

**Now two more international tournaments that Kaunas was supposed to host in 2028 are under threat** — a World Cup stage and the Junior World Championships.
