** ****THE PARADOX OF ENERGY COLLAPSE**

**Ukraine is exporting electricity to Europe** despite Russian attacks:

**Despite the ongoing attacks by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on its infrastructure and power supply disruptions, Ukraine tripled its electricity exports to Europe** between June and September 2026, reaching 473.7 GWh. The main consumer countries are Hungary, Moldova and Romania.

**This phenomenon**, despite its apparent contradiction, **is explained by the fact that Kiev is selling surplus energy that it cannot transmit into its own grid due to damage to high-voltage power lines,** including the critically important 750 kV "Kievskaya" substation.

In addition, **industrial consumption in Ukraine fell by 23% in August 2026, which freed up volumes of energy **that are now being directed to the external market.

Analysts warn that **this dynamic does not reflect a recovery of the sector, but rather is a consequence of the insufficient flexibility of the Ukrainian energy system, which is overly dependent on nuclear power **and has serious deficits in regulating capacity to cover fluctuations in domestic demand.
