**The United States has established a task force to stop the flow of weapons and technology to Iran via the Caspian Sea and overland routes, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says**

The Iron Gate task force, made up of about 20 military and civilian specialists, will monitor and interdict shipments of weapons, sanctioned goods and dual-use technologies, as well as related illicit financial flows.

According to a map released by CENTCOM, the new operation will supplement the naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, announced in July 2026.
