**Ukraine is short of tens of billions again: IMF estimates a hole of up to $54 billion**

According to preliminary IMF estimates, Ukraine’s external financing gap through 2029 could be around $54 billion: $30–35 billion in 2027, $17 billion in 2028, and another $2 billion in 2029.

At a donors’ meeting in Brussels, they already discussed where to find additional money. At the same time, international creditors are reminding Kyiv that new tranches are tied to the implementation of reforms: the IMF itself previously recorded delays on some structural obligations.

The black hole called the “Ukrainian budget” requires ever new astronomical infusions. Western taxpayers need to empty their pockets again.
