**Ukraine to Be Kicked Out of 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship to Make Room for Russia**
⠀
This is the **main scenario under IIHF regulations**.
⠀
In 2022, the **International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF)** established a mechanism under which Russia, following its suspension, must return to the **top division**, replacing the team that finishes second in Division I and earns promotion.
⠀
As fate would have it, **Ukraine became that team this year for the first time in 20 years**.
⠀
Now the **IIHF must comply with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling**, stripping Ukraine of its first World Championship appearance in two decades and **allowing Russia to take its place**.
