Microsoft has officially announced a number of Windows 11 improvements with a major focus on performance, stability and usability, [especially in File Explorer](https://winaero.com/microsoft-announced-context-menu-and-file-explorer-improvements-in-windows-11/). The updated app reduces freezes, crashes and delays while making the app faster and more responsive. 
Microsoft also fixed a problem that could interrupt file renaming during background syncing, and case-only name changes now apply immediately. 
Other File Explorer upgrades include better support for quoted paths and double backslashes, middle-click tab opening from the Home page and address bar, saved section preferences, and clearer file-size and Details pane displays.

Windows 11’s context menu is also getting a redesign. The updated version opens faster and is less cluttered. Microsoft added a “Customize Menu” option that lets users toggle commands like Send to, Create Shortcut and Print, manage third-party extensions, and switch back to a vertical text list of core actions. The Properties command can now be moved to the bottom. The new menu is available in Insider build 26340.9212 for the experimental ring.
