🇺🇦🇬🇧 Посол України у Великій Британії Валерій Залужний отримав Freedom of the City of London

Посол України у Великій Британії Валерій Залужний став першим Послом України, який отримав Freedom of the City of London - один із найдавніших почесних статусів, пов’язаних із британською столицею.

Під час урочистої церемонії у Mansion House, офіційній резиденції Леді-мера Сіті Лондона, Валерій Залужний був офіційно прийнятий до числа Freemen of the City of London. Церемонія відбулася за участю Леді-мера Сіті Лондона Дами Сьюзен Ленглі DBE.

Традиція Freedom of the City of London бере початок у Середньовіччі - вважається, що вона виникла у 1237 році. Цей статус має особливий символічний контекст. Валерій Залужний отримує його, передусім, як Надзвичайний і Повноважний Посол України, після служби на посаді Головнокомандувача Збройних Сил України в період повномасштабної російської агресії, а сьогодні – як представник України у відносинах з одним із її ключових союзників.

Це є ще одним свідченням стратегічного партнерства між Великою Британією та Україною та символом особливого рівня українсько-британських відносин, сформованих у роки російсько-української війни.

🇺🇦🇬🇧 Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Valerii Zaluzhnyi Receives the Freedom of the City of London

Ambassador Valerii Zaluzhnyi has become the first Ambassador of Ukraine to receive the Freedom of the City of London, one of the oldest honorary distinctions associated with the British capital.

During a formal ceremony at Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Valerii Zaluzhnyi was formally admitted as a Freeman of the City of London. The ceremony was attended by the Lady Mayor of the City of London, Dame Susan Langley DBE.

The tradition of the Freedom of the City of London dates back to the Middle Ages and is believed to have originated in 1237. The honour carries particular symbolic significance. Valerii Zaluzhnyi receives it, first and foremost, in his capacity as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, following his service as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the period of Russia’s full-scale aggression, and today as Ukraine’s representative in its relations with one of its key allies.

This is yet another testament to the strategic partnership between the United Kingdom and Ukraine and a symbol of the special level of Ukrainian-British relations forged during the years of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
