🇫🇮🇮🇱 Finland quietly extended military cooperation with Israel for another decade

Finland and Israel signed a 10-year memorandum on defense-material cooperation, extending the arrangement through 2034, according to an investigation published by Finnish public broadcaster Yle. The agreement covers cooperation in the research, development and procurement of military equipment.

The Finnish Defense Ministry did not publicly announce the agreement. Finland proposed extending the arrangement in early 2024, while the war in Gaza was already underway. Previous versions of the agreement ran for five years; this time Helsinki sought a 10-year term.

Israel is already Finland’s second-largest foreign defense supplier, with Helsinki purchasing systems including David’s Sling air defense, Spike anti-tank missiles and Gabriel anti-ship missiles.
