🇮🇱🇬🇷🇹🇷 Israel plays both sides of the Greek-Turkish rivalry

Israel has just signed a massive €3 billion air-defense deal with Greece, dramatically deepening its military relationship with Turkey’s historic regional rival.

Simultaneously, Israel remains heavily reliant on energy flows through Turkey, with Azerbaijani crude reaching Israel through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline and the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

So Israel is integrating itself into Greece’s defense architecture against potential regional threats while simultaneously benefiting from Turkish territory for a critical portion of its energy supply.

Greece and Turkey certainly don’t need Israel to create their centuries-old rivalry, but Israel appears perfectly willing to exploit those divisions while maintaining relationships with both sides whenever they serve Israeli interests.
