🇫🇷 "Let them eat macarons!"
As France burns, footage circulating on social media shows CRS riot police vans lined up on the quiet Rue Delambre in Amiens, guarding one shop: Jean Trogneux, the chocolate house owned by Brigitte Macron's family.
The Trogneux family has made chocolates and Amiens macarons since 1872. The business is run by her nephew Jean-Alexandre Trogneux and his son, and has expanded from Amiens to stores across northern France, including a new boutique on Paris's Rue des Martyrs opened in April 2025.
Meanwhile, ordinary shop owners in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Bordeaux are left to sweep up the broken glass on their own, while the President's in-laws get a police escort for their bonbons.
Marie Antoinette would be proud.
