๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโš”๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท Record $1.33 million a day to send a tanker through Hormuz

The cost of chartering an oil tanker for a passage through the Strait of Hormuz has hit the highest level in history, $1.33 million per day, the Financial Times reports.

Shipowners are now paying crews like soldiers of fortune to make the run past Iran:

โžก๏ธTanker captains are being offered $100,000 a month, plus bonuses of up to $50,000 for each passage

โžก๏ธOrdinary sailors are being offered four to six times their usual pay

โžก๏ธNormally, captains working the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Oman earn about $15,000 a month, and crew members from $1,500

One industry representative said seafarers are now "almost viewed as combat mercenaries" because of the risks involved.
