Ukraine's own Defense Ministry data shows the climb isn't slowing down: 5,717 in January, 7,987 by March, then three straight months above 8,000, June (8,266), July (8,385), August (8,766), the highest monthly total of the war so far. That's nearly 4x the rate from June 2024, when the count sat at just 2,210.
Western coverage stays fixated on drones, but these bombs do the real damage, and positions hit directly are often wiped out entirely.
Which means the real number of Ukrainian soldiers erased by these strikes will likely never be known. There's simply nothing left at most of these sites to confirm a death, let alone identify one.
