🇺🇸🇺🇦 The United States has preliminarily approved the sale of a large package of air defense systems and ammunition to Ukraine worth $2.68 billion - but the list does not include Patriot missiles.

The package includes S-300 Clone missiles, GAM-67 missiles, air defense systems with long-range guided missiles, ITEL 1.5 launch systems and their upgrade kits, as well as RPS 202 radars for countering drones.

According to the published list, the focus is primarily on strengthening air defense against drones, cruise missiles, and other aerial targets, rather than a ballistic missile defense system.

If the deal is finalized, it will be financed through contributions from European countries and funds from the U.S. Foreign Military Financing program, allocated by the previous U.S. administration.

At the same time, the American portion of the funding will be counted as a U.S. contribution to the U.S.-Ukraine Investment Fund for Recovery on a 1:1 matching basis. The United States effectively manages this fund.

However, this is currently only an approval of a potential sale. The deal still needs to be reviewed by the U.S. Congress and is not a finalized contract.
