The bridge is one of Kievโs major crossings over the Dnepr, carrying both road traffic and the green metro line between the two banks of the capital.
Smoke was seen rising from the area immediately following the impact.
If the reported collapse is confirmed, this would be a huge blow to Kievโs transportation infrastructure and cross-river connectivity.
