Russia is attacking Ukraine with older piston-engine Geran drones today, taking advantage of thick cloud cover, according to Sergey "Flash" Beskrestnov, an adviser to Zelensky. He says the low clouds may make it harder for interceptor crews to spot the drones.
Telegram channels are posting videos of strike drones flying over what they say is Kiev and western Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian military channel "Nikolayevsky Vanyok," the drones are going after substations powering electricity and heating, as well as railway traction substations. "Many were shot down, but plenty got through," the channel wrote.
Local channels in Chernovtsi report a drone raid underway, with explosions heard across the city.
