Airbus has flown its U740 Valkyrie, an unmanned combat aircraft built on Kratos's Valkyrie airframe, for the first time in Europe.

The flight met all objectives, including a rocket-assisted takeoff, maneuvers at various altitudes and speeds up to Mach 0.8, and in-flight mission adjustments.

Developed as an uncrewed Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA), it is meant to extend the range, firepower, and survivability of crewed jets like the Eurofighter.

It can launch from a rail or take off conventionally from a runway.

Airbus and Kratos aim to field a combat-ready CCA by 2029, with Germany and other European forces as targets.
