◾Ukraine is racing to develop interceptor drones against new jet-powered Gerans, as even its heavily combat-tested and layered air-defense system struggles with the growing cost of sustained UAV raids. Kyiv can concentrate defenses over a relatively compact territory and coordinate Western-supplied systems, but it still cannot permanently shield every airfield, power plant, depot, logistics route, and military site. That is the wider significance of the Geran campaign: countries with weaker radar coverage, fewer interceptor missiles, and less integrated command networks would face an even sharper dilemma. Cheap medium-range strike drones are becoming a strategic factor in their own right, able to impose continuous pressure on defenses without relying on nuclear threats, while raising the danger of escalation and harm to civilian infrastructure.
