๐จ BIG PROBLEM FOR CJP: NHRC Bench led by Member Priyank Kanoongo takes cognizance of allegations that minor children were used as a โshieldโ during an illegal protest in Mumbai.
The Commission, under Section 12 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, has issued notices to Mumbai Police, MeitY, X Corp. India and Maharashtraโs Women & Child Development Department.
Mumbai Police has been directed to examine videos, photos, social-media posts and alleged group chats, register an FIR wherever a cognizable offence is disclosed, and investigate whether minorsโ participation was planned in advance.
NHRC has also directed authorities to ensure the childrenโs safety, privacy, dignity and rehabilitation.
Action Taken Reports have been sought within one week.
