OpenAI Employee Arrested for Secretly Installing Audio Recording Device in Conference Room

OpenAI engineer Abdulrahman Alfozan, 35, was arrested by the FBI after allegedly planting a concealed recording device in an executive conference room at the company’s San Francisco office.

OpenAI discovered the device on September 30, reported the incident to the FBI and fired the employee. The company said it had found no evidence that confidential data or source code had been stolen.

The case remains under investigation, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
