๐ข Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan, the UAEโs national security adviser, and co-investors back a 49% stake in the holding company behind World Liberty Financialโs planned U.S. trust bank, The Wall Street Journal reports. The bank is intended to issue, redeem and safeguard World Libertyโs USD1 stablecoin.
Tahnoon previously backed a $500 million investment for a separate 49% stake in World Liberty itself, with $263 million ultimately flowing to Trump family entities. The relationship has drawn scrutiny because Tahnoon also controls G42, which was seeking U.S. access to advanced AI chips while the Trump administration was negotiating expanded technology ties with the UAE.
The OCC granted the bank preliminary conditional approval but required Tahnoonโs investment entity and other major shareholders to sign passivity commitments barring them from influencing or controlling its management.
