The five-party โArizonaโ coalition has been deadlocked for months over about โฌ10 billion in savings by 2029, needed to bring the deficit within EU rules.
The King has not accepted the resignation.
He warned that Belgium cannot afford a prolonged crisis, will consult the coalition party leaders from Tuesday, and will meet De Wever again on Friday.
Belgiumโs deficit stood at about 5.2% of GDP in 2025, and its public debt is above 108%.
