💢 For our non American readers, something to consider about American ethnicities, identities, and last names - America is full of people with Dutch last names who are not at all Dutch, Polish names but not Polish, Italian names but not Italian, German names but not German.
Here's how it works - Generations ago, a Polish migrant to America had at least one son with a non Polish woman, but this half-Polish son bears a Polish name. That half-Polish son marries a non-Polish woman, they have a son with a Polish name but he's 25% Polish - one more generation, same story, the following son is 12.5% Polish, next generation 6.25% Polish, next generation, 3.125% Polish - but bearing a fully Polish name.
America is filled with such people, so much so that you should expect it more than not, it is practically the norm.
