๐ข The Russian Embassy in Budapest reacted with bewilderment and irony to the Hungarian foreign ministerโs announcement of talks with Latvia on energy cooperation.
โIf the Hungarian government sees Riga as its strategic partner specifically in the energy sector, we can only wish both countries productive cooperation in this field โ with the unmistakable aroma of freedom and liberal democracy,โ the embassy said.
Hungary still receives most of its oil and gas from Russia under long-term contracts. So far, however, the Magyar government has apparently held no consultations with Moscow on the issue.
