💢 The White House has discouraged U.S. space companies from attending French President Emmanuel Macron’s Sept. 9–10 space summit in Paris, POLITICO reports. Officials warned that participation could appear to endorse EU policy positions, while accusing France of “anti-competitive practices.”
SpaceX, Stoke Space, K2 Space and Astra were among the companies contacted. The White House stressed that attendance remains their decision, but industry representatives said the message left firms in an awkward position given Europe’s importance as a market.
Despite the pressure on private companies, officials from the White House science office, State Department, Commerce Department and NASA still plan to attend.
