💢 US diesel hits all-time record $6.49 a gallon
Diesel prices shattered every previous record today, reaching a national average of $6.4866 — nearly double the $3.71 from a year ago.
According to AAA, the national average for regular gasoline is $4.4759.
California has the highest prices in the country, at $8.04 for diesel and $6.1372 for regular.
Diesel is more important to the economy than gasoline because it fuels the trucks, trains, ships, and farm equipment that transport everything Americans buy. When diesel prices nearly double, the increased cost is reflected in grocery prices, construction costs, and delivery fees for every household in the country.
