FALSE. In fact a interesting coincidence is that adrenochrome was discovered specifically during experiments with rabbits, and subsequent (even unrelated) studies were also from rabbits.

In 1931, Marion O. P. Wiltshire published a study titled “The influence of tissues and amino acids on the oxidation of adrenaline” from the Physilogical Laboratory of the University of Bristol.

Included in the introduction to Wiltshire’s research was a note that “Rabbits’ intestine is used in all experiments. The rabbit is killed by a blow on the head, and the whole of the small intestine removed with the mesentery, and placed in Ringer’s solution.”
